Landfills became overfilled by 2030 with obsolete technology, furniture fragments, and consumer waste. Microplastics have outnumbered surviving fish species, corporations continue to exploit labor and environment for their individual greed. Our news is discarded quicker than our cold brew cups - responses to trauma have become commodified. Invasive plant species and mutant viruses have become part of our daily life. As humankind learned to simulate reality virtually; we lost touch with nature.
Deconstructing material from my apartments’ trash room and blowing air through straws while infected with COVID-19 - I illuminate our collective societies consciousness as we experience living through dystopia. Exploring consciousness and the interconnection of nature through the media of figurative expressionist drawing, neon paintings with light, and sculptural site-specific installation – my subject matter originates from the surrealist reality from daily bombardments of news, popular media, and my rapidly changing landscape within Bushwick, Brooklyn. Deconstructing lived and physical material; to achieve expansiveness through sharing immersive experience. In a world knotted in complexity; art unites humankind toward a future life worth living. My practice is grounded in building a bridge toward a more liberated and equitable society within the joy and horror of our daily life.
